The USWNT has recently called for equal pay for male and female soccer players.

Members of the Democratic Congress have joined this advocacy, threatening to withhold funding for the 2026 World Cup unless both genders are paid equally. They are showing strong support for female athletes.

Lobbyists are using misleading tactics to fight against this movement, presenting inaccurate information to make their case. They are placing the blame on FIFA for all the payment disparities. However, the lobbyists are only highlighting a small part of the issue. The women’s team had to agree to an annual salary contract, whereas the men are paid per game. It is essential for both men and women to have the same payment options. FIFA should enhance their rewards for women to match those of men if they emerge victorious. Instead of tackling the problem directly, a significant amount of money is being spent on lobbyists.

The mismanagement of funds can be attributed to the US Soccer Foundation’s actions. They are currently upset and have turned to lobbyists to address their concerns. However, the responsibility lies with the US Soccer to provide equal pay to both male and female athletes.
